October 2008 - blue Skye thinking

Nicola had a proper holiday in October (in other words, one with her husband as opposed to one with her laptop). For some unfathomable reason, they decided the ideal destination for an October break would be Skye.

As luck would have it, they had more sun than rain. Nicola highly recommends the island if you like outdoorsy holidays and stunning scenery. Just make sure you can tolerate your car-passengers for 10+ hours at a stretch.

The holiday allowed Nicola to tick another box in her book of "mammals I'd really like to see in the wild". In July, she swam with seals on a commission for Coast magazine. In Skye, she spotted a (surprisingly huge) sea-otter - although she didn't get to swim with it. (She did swim whilst she was on Skye though, at Staffin Bay.)

At work, Nicola filed copy for 220 Triathlon, did PR and features work for a sports-based PR agency in London and wrote web copy for some Business in Berkshire clients, including Media Plant.

She also provided web copy for her own website, which is currently being built to showcase her journalism portfolio. Watch this space!
