 October 2008 - blue Skye thinking
Nicola had a proper holiday in October (in other words, one with her husband as opposed to one with her laptop). For some unfathomable reason, they decided the ideal destination for an October break would be Skye.  more |
|  September 2008 - land-locked in Berkshire
Nicola calculates she probably spent more time on dry land than she did in the water during September! As the open water season drew to a close, the uncommonly windy weather meant that her planned Jersey to France swim was cancelled. It's a shame, but par for the course. Thank goodness she got that second Channel swim in! more |
|  August 2008 - second Channel swim
In August, Nicola surprised everyone but her nearest and dearest by nipping out of the office on a Wednesday to swim the Channel (again). She'd been planning it for a while (in case the Jersey-to-France swim she's booked doesn't go ahead because of the awful weather) but hadn't told many people. more |
|  July 2008 - inflight magazine features
Nicola's birthday month of July saw her continue with open-water swim training for her Jersey-to-France solo crossing, alongside maintaining monthly work for regular clients and taking on some new ones. more |
|  June 2008 - basking with sharks
In June, Nicola took a long weekend and went to the Isle of Man, home to the famous TT bike race and some rather large basking sharks. It was the sharks which interested her, since she'd be getting up close and personal with them... more |
|  May 2008 - the open water season starts
May is traditionally when the open water training season starts. This roughly translates as "the time of year when Nicola spends four mornings a week swimming in cold water". She makes sure her fingers thaw out by the time she's at her desk. more |
|  April 2008 - press trip in the sun
April has been a busy but fun month for Nicola. In amongst the deadlines, meetings and trips to the big smoke she flew to Gozo for a week to cover a swim-training camp for a consumer magazine. more |
