2005 - Martha Trust, Kent
Martha Trust is a home in Kent (where Nicola is from) for children and adults with severe disabilities. Martha Trust offers respite care, day care and a home for life.
Martha Trust got in touch with Nicola in 2005, wanting a copywriter to produce press releases and features which would run in the local press and beyond to raise awareness and funds for their latest home.
Nicola worked with Martha Trust Chief Executive, Graham Simmons, throughout the year to produce features and a newsletter in order to reignite support from existing friends of the home and to drum up assistance from new supporters in the Kent community.
This is what Graham had to say:
"I can confirm that I was extremely satisfied with the work you completed for us involving a challenging piece to promote general awareness of the charity. Charities, more so than many organisations, are very sensitive to public opinion and we have to be extremely careful over what we put into the public domain.
"I was impressed that you took the time initially to get to know Martha Trust and to see our work first hand. This obviously enabled you to understand the brief much better (helping to interpret it for us at times!) and as a result the finished article was exactly what we required. It is worth mentioning that we were not only very satisfied with the article but also with your communications as you kept us up to date with progress and the speed with which you worked to meet our requirements. All in all, I would have no hesitation in recommending you to another organisation which I am sure would benefit from your journalistic skills."
Nicola wishes Martha Trust the best in their continuing good work.
