The Sea, The Sea – An Exhibition
Until Sunday 5 October
In this exhibition , paintings and drawings from the museum collections evoke the cry of gulls, the smell of salt spray and the feel of sand beneath your feet. Complementing the artworks are seldom seen objects collected and created by people who lived, worked and dreaded by the sea – from shells, fossils and birds to tools, models and ceramics with plenty of things for all the family to see and do.

Mosaic Madness
Tuesday 29 July, 10am, 11.15am, 1pm and 2.15pm
A fun introduction to the art of mosaic making inspired by our Roman mosaics.

Turning Terns

Design and make a beautiful pull-along flying fish kite to take down to the beach on a windy summer's day.

Raps Beside the Sea

Create your own lyrics about the sea working with poet Joseph Coelho. Draw inspiration from the weird and the wonderful in our exhibition 'The Sea, The Sea'. Come back to perform your work with friends and family at the weekend.

As sailors sailed the seas they created stories about the creatures they saw. Image you have sailed the world and create a mask or headdress or a sea creature.
