Thatcham Nature Discovery Centre

The days are open to all families with children aged 6-14 years and all children must be accompanied by their parents at all times

We will make a story telling area and share the story of Harry's Hazelnut and do all the things he did in the book including hazel hurdle making, walking stick making and constructing a bird box. We will also look at other appropriate stories and interpreting them around the Reserve. Perhaps you could bring along your favourites or make up your own.

Explore West Berkshire's wildlife and discover bush skills you never knew you had with a Wildlife Explorer Day! These fantastic family days out will teach basic bush craft skills such as gathering materials for a fire and making your own camp fire, fireside cooking and shelter building. Learn practical woodland craft skills, woodland and wildlife understanding and woodland games and activities.

Each day starts at 10.30 and finishes at 3.30 pm. Booking is essential and please bring a packed lunch and a drink and wear warm layers. Bring a waterproof jacket and wear sturdy footwear.
