Imagine you are Manchester United and I am Sir Alex Ferguson. This perfectly describes the relationship between the person or team being coached, the coachee and the coach. The role of the coach is to draw out the best qualities of the coachee revealing their potential and developing character as they proceed along the journey that is life coaching. The aim? To achieve the best possible results at the end of the process. In life coaching this means achieving goals, resolving problems and relationships. Ultimately it means the enhancement of personal happiness through the development of qualities such as, confidence, self esteem and effective communication.
The coachee achieves all of this by agreement with the coach and through the use of a series of concepts and tools drawn from the emerging science of spiritual and emotional intelligence (SEI). Essentially SEI is part of the emerging science of education which in turn is a component of self knowledge. These are some of the key questions of the 21st Century the answers to which lay buried within our own lives. As individuals how do reach them?
