Small business wins council fight helped by FSB and local press

Fifteen jobs have been saved after party shop Fun ‘n’ Frolic won its battle to trade from an industrial estate. The costume shop, which has traded in the town for more than two decades and was supported by the Evening Post’s Keep Trade Local campaign, faced closure after its original planning application to open in Richfield Avenue was turned down by Reading planners who claimed there were more suitable locations closer to the town centre.

Keeping Trade Local at Nell Gwynn’s House

Local marketing gurus Effective Marketing Solutions (EMS) have set up home in Nell Gwynn’s House in Church Street, Windsor. In recognition the Federation of Small Business (FSB)’s “Keep Trade Local” message, boss Dean Ward moved from premises overlooking Windsor Castle to the 1640s building in Church Street. Visitors can spot the FSB’s “Keep Trade Local” sticker in the street-front window.
