A bright day for Mukti
On the beautiful sunny afternoon of Sunday 4 June I was privileged to take part in Mukti’s 2006 Surya Namaskarathon.
Held at the Hindu temple in Reading, this year’s event raised an unprecedented £27,000 to help orphaned, abandoned and HIV-positive children in India.
The funds were raised from:
* sponsorship of people like me, doing repetitions of the yoga sequence Salute to the Sun, or Surya Namaskar
* sale of handicrafts made by the children at Mukti’s centres in India, including some innovative laptop cases made from recycled sacks and fabric off-cuts
* sale of food made by the ladies of the Hindu temple who kindly supplied us with some delicious refreshments after our efforts
* and generous donations.
There are a lot of children who are still in need of help and any further donations would be gratefully received. If you'd like to sponsor me after the event, please email me.
Alternatively you can send a donation directly to Mukti.
Namaste.
