Are you one of those people who have just had a great break away from it all and are now struggling to motivate yourself to go back to work? Same old routine, same faces, same problems to deal with and nothing to look forward to – apart from your next holiday!
So many people I talk to do not seem happy in their work – whether it’s the location, conditions, colleagues or the work itself. But it appears that many people feel trapped “I don’t know what else I could do” “I’m worried about changing careers; this is all that I have ever done”.
Do you remember all those ambitions you had as a child – to be a famous sportsman, pop star or to create a new invention? Many people fell into their first job and then stuck at it, gradually getting more and more comfortable in their routine – but not using all their skills and talents. This nagging feeling that you could be doing more with your career becomes more prominent after a break when we experience a different way of living and wonder what more we could do.
Surveys show that most people get their career advice from friends and family, others remember the careers teacher at school identifying what subject they were good at and advising them to use this. But this does not take into account your motivation, your talents and the others aspects of your life. Career coaching is a service which helps you take time to consider all aspects of the career choices that you have, and gives you support as you refine your options and balance these with what else you want in life.
