‘Chants Meeting’ is a celebration of the Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin. Each piece is dedicated to a certain aspect of my faith as my practice has developed. I met this practice via a multi-faith recording for St Mary’s in Slough.

We recorded representations from many faiths but the final session was with a lady from Croatia. We recorded her chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo which is the title of the Lotus Sutra. She is a member of SGI-UK and it is one of over 180 organisations throughout the world which together make up SGI (Soka Gakkai International). Soka means the 'creation of value' and gakkai means 'society'. SGI is the world-wide movement based on Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism, and its teaching of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, which encourages the development of the individual's greatest potential. SGI is a broad humanistic movement for the benefit of the people of the world, engaging with other institutions, associations, groups and individuals who wish actively to create a better world.
SGI-UK started with one person in 1960 and has grown steadily. There are now over 450 local groups and over 10,000 members through the UK. I joined SGI-UK in 2005.

The music is all quite varied and stylistically it ranges from classical to jazz. ‘Strange machine’ is comprises of samples I created all made by the human body and was a lot of fun to produce. On the other tracks I have played all of the instruments myself (with the exception of ‘Human Revolution’ which features my Croatian friend, Zeljana Schonauer) and recorded all of it at Jazzmouse. The album is available to be purchased either track by track or as a whole from my Business in Berkshire site http://www.businessinberkshire.co.uk/jazzmouse/extra10.html
