Ray Jones of the Chartered Institute of Marketing has previously stated that telemarketing is increasingly effective when targeted at the right audience.
He added that technology has made the marketing format more focused for those looking to reach specific audiences.
Telemarketing is increasingly effective when it is targeted at the right audience, according to the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
Ray Jones, the body's press officer, said that technology has made the marketing format a lot more focused, meaning that it is easier for businesses to provide a relevant service to existing and potential customers.
He added that telemarketing is still "very effective" as a format as long as good information is on hand and the user is not wasting customers' time.
"What's happened with telemarketing now is that technology's enabled it to become much more focused," he explained.
"The markets are segmented – for instance, you wouldn't sell Horlicks to teenagers, you'd concentrate on a particular market… You ring people or companies based on knowledge of spending habits and so on."
