Organic Green Tea - How Healthy is it?
|
Green Tea has been consumed for many centuries in India, China, Japan and Thailand. In traditional Chinese and Indian medicine, green tea has been used as a stimulant, diuretic and astringent to improve heart health.
Green Tea iss attracting the attention of researchers from all over the world, though is not just being sourced for a variety of purposes from the traditional drinking purposes, but also has been added to supplements, cosmetic purposes (have found an excellent Green Tea Shampoo with No chemicals added) and flavourings of food items. A major constituent of the tea is an antioxidant epigallocatechin -3-gallate (EGCG). Researchers are studying its potential in the treatment of cancer, Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis and HIV/AIDS. Researchers in the U.K. and Spain claim that EGCG inhibits the growth of cancer cells. The effect was seen even at low concentrations, equivalent to drinking two or three cups every day. The latest study shows that the antioxidant binds to the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase, in the same way as established anticancer drugs. There are four primary polyphenols in green tea, which are referred to as catechins. Catechins are powerful antioxidants, which have shown in recent studies to fight viruses, slow aging, and have a beneficial effect on health. Clinical tests have shown that catechins destroy free radicals and have far-reaching positive effects on the entire body. Free radicals are highly reactive molecules and fragments of molecules that can damage the body at the cellular level leaving the body susceptible to cancer, heart disease, and many other degenerative diseases. In Japan cancer rates tend to be generally low, due to the regular amount of green tea consumed. Though, it is not possible to determine from population based clinical studies whether green tea actually prevents cancer in people. Scientific Studies indicate that green tea may help the following health conditions:
Thankfully family and friends to ship tea to me, or bring it back with them following a visit to Japan , so this lead me on a quest to hunt down various Organic green teas which are only grown in Japan. After six months of researching Green Tea, trying various samples of green tea, and having the opportunity to meet with Japanese representatives, I have now sourced a 100% Organic Green Tea which is produced by a small family, located in the South of Japan. The quality of the tea is fantastic, and as it is a small Company, everything from harvest through to drying, airing and packing the tea is all completed under one roof. If you are looking for Green Tea, your most welcome to come and join me for a cup. Either drop me a line, and learn to experience quality “green” Organic Tea. The added bonus is the tea is absolutely delicious, and you can even enjoy it cold!
