Squid wishes for a Happy New Year |
New Year cards are important aspect in connecting with friends, family and business colleagues.
For that added touch of difference or "snack" why not send a squid New Years card for 2009. It is a shame that there is no year of the Squid, though 2009 is the year of the Bull instead. A squid fishing cooperative in Wakayama Prefecture has seen an increase in the popularity of its New Year’s squid postcards. The flat, vacuum-packed squid is wrapped in paper on which the sender pastes a sticker with the recipient’s name and address. The postcard can be sent through the ordinary mail. The cooperative usually produces only 3,000 of the postcards every year, but it increased the number by 600 this year after receiving large orders from companies in Tokyo and Osaka. The cards sell for 240 yen each. Where to purchase these New Year Cards from - please visit http://www2.ocn.ne.jp/~aritafum/sub2.html. Website is in Japanese. |
