Campaign to collect and reuse English flags which are clean |
When you see the red cross on a white background flapping in the wind, it can only stir the emotions of pride and even a sense of being patriotism towards England. Yet flags only seem to have a short life span; international sporting competitions or ........ ?? seems to be international sporting competitions or maybe the odd opportunity when Royalty is visiting a local school. The short life span of the flag also raises ethical questions of whether the sale of these flags can actually contribute to less textile and environmental waste.
The decoration of the English flag during the World Cup 2010 has attributed to many a house, car or office being decorated with either small, medium or even mighty extra large flags attached to all areas. Though what will happen to these after this weekend? Well, if England continue to strive forward to the next round, please do keep your flags. What we require is your used flags when your finished with them. Please send us an email confirming you wish to send the flags to us for collection. At the same time how many and what size. We will be building upon the website and collecting data on what sizes and how many we have. Your help is greatly appreciated - whether you wish to see the flags being recycled or better still saving more textile rubbish being thrown into landfills. We are planning to make suitably sized flags into bags which will be given out to people to reuse, small sized flags will be made into mobile phone carriers. If you wish to make a suggestion, please do let us know. Many thanks for stopping bye.
