As environmental awareness continues to grow, PC World have announced the introduction of the first ‘carbon-neutral’ PC for consumers keen to reduce the environmental impact of the products they buy.
Essentially, carbon-neutral products are the result of manufacturers deliberately compensating for the energy used in production and distribution. This is achieved through various carbon-offsetting schemes, with tree-planting being the most popular (trees absord CO2 from the atmosphere). Some critics point out that it takes 10-15 years to realise the benefits of tree-planting schemes however.
Made entirely from recycled materials, the new computer will utilise the most energy-conscious components and the company aim to have the new PC on the shelves later this year.
PC World Commercial Director Bryan Magrath commented: “We’re harnessing the very latest technology and the expertise of cutting edge component developers to create the first ‘PC PC’,”.
