The climate is changing – you should too!
HotAV estimates that it has reduced its CO2 emissions by 77% from 215 to 49 tonnes per annum through its unique ‘pay-as-you-go’ audio-visual rental programme.
The much-publicised Stern review, released on 30 October, warned of irreversible climate change. Subsequently, the government is revising its targets on the reduction of carbon emissions in the UK.
HotAV’s patented timer-chip technology in its rented AV equipment (projectors, PA systems and plasma screens) means items can stay on site, which cuts out around 50,000 miles of vehicle deliveries and collections per month.
Ordinarily, AV hire companies deliver and collect equipment in vans on a daily basis – leaving a large carbon footprint behind. With over 1,000 AV companies in the UK operating in this way the industry should follow HotAV’s example by taking responsibility and revising its approach to transportation.
To service HotAV’s 400 UK customers with an average of only three hired items of AV equipment per month, HotAV’s travel would equate to an enormous 28,800 trips per annum. With its rental solution this is dramatically reduced.
It also saves the venue money as it is only charged for the actual usage time of the equipment which, in turn, makes it convenient for on-site staff and encourages them to switch off equipment between sessions prior to the equipment’s five minute automatic time-out.
HotAV is collaborating with other AV companies in the industry by offering its pay-as-you-go solution under licence, so that the whole industry of over 1000 companies can benefit.
HotAV’s initiative goes a long way to making it effectively ‘carbon neutral’ and a genuine industry eco leader.
