Wrap your hair in a towel. Sit down with a mirror and take a good long look. . . . .What shape face have you got?. . . . . When looking through the magazines to find your new hair style, remember to check out the face shape of the person wearing the style you like. If you are the same face shape . ..well no problem. However if you're different, then it's probably not going to look best on you.
At 'HAIR AT THE PARK' we would be able to mix and match parts of one style with another, to design you a personal look that not only looks similar to what you've found in the magazine, but. . . . ACTUALLY SUITS YOU AS WELL!
The shape considered to be the ideal one is OVAL. All other face shapes are having hair styled to create an oval face shape appearance.
OVAL
You are able to wear any style, short or long, full or close, layered or one length.
For easy maintenance include your natural hair movement with the style you choose.
A fringe can help your eyes to stand out. Having your forehead showing can balance your nose, in a profile view.
ROUND
We are aiming to slim the ROUND face shape at the sides and give height on the top of the crown. Promoting an oval appearance. Short hair would require wisps of sideburns with lift on the crown. Long hair would look better with a long angular fringe and long layers to give movement to balance the face shape.
SQUARE
Softening the edges works best for a SQUARE face shape. Bring short hair styles onto the temples giving height on top. Long hair looks best if left to at least shoulder length or beyond. Otherwise the jaw line is accentuated even more, giving an angular appearance.
RECTANGULAR / LONG
Here you need to create volume, curls are good. Giving a wider appearance to balance out the length of your face. A fringe shortens the face length. A wedge look or bobbed hair at the back, cut above the hairline and graduated in.
DIAMOND
You would have a narrow chin for a diamond shape, ideally you would need to create fullness at the chin level, bobbed hair is great for this. A chin length style would suit you best, using a rounded style of design.
PEAR
To even out the width at the jaw line, fullness on top of the crown would create a more balanced look. Long layered styles look best.
SO WHAT HAVE YOU GOT?
Hair is the first focal point, however you should always take into account other facial features such as eyebrows, noses and lip shapes.
