Local Jobs for local people

Meeting your workforce needs in Windsor and Maidenhead and Bracknell.

Thanks to redevelopment projects in Maidenhead and Windsor and the planned major regeneration of Bracknell town centre, employers will be creating exciting new job opportunities over the next few years. At the same time other businesses may be starting up or expanding, with their own employment needs.

Grow our Own aims to work with you as employers to help ensure that local people will be ready and equipped to fill the vacancies you may have to offer.

Grow our Own is a partnership between
• Bracknell Forest Borough Council
• The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead
• The Learning Partnerships in both boroughs
• The South East Economic Development Agency (SEEDA)

It is the first project of its kind in the country and it will work closely with employers, education providers, local and professional organisations and individual residents to
• Find out about the new jobs ahead &
• Locate and train Bracknell and Royal Borough residents to reach the standards employers seek.

More than 5,000 jobs are likely to be created in the Bracknell and Windsor & Maidenhead areas over the next five years.

Although the local employment rate is high, there are many people who, with the right support, advice, mentoring guidance and training, could provide you with the workforce you need right on your doorstep.

In this way, the revitalisation of our town centres will be of benefit to everyone in our communities – both to you as an employer and to residents with the potential to become valuable assets to our local economy.

Grow our Own aims to:
• Identify people who want to start or return to work
• Offer services, e.g. advice, learning, training, support and mentoring, that will help prepare people for employment
• Work with employers to find out about your recruitment needs and job opportunities
• Communicate with businesses to help fill vacancies and develop existing workforces
• Offer ongoing support to both employees and employers.

Grow our Own could help many people who currently find it difficult to get into work:
• Women returning to work after a long absence, perhaps when their families have grown up
• People who have been made redundant
• School leavers
• New residents
• Teenage parents
• Adults with mental health problems or moderate learning difficulties
• Carers
• Older people
• Those on incapacity benefit
• People from ethnic minority communities
• Ex-offenders
• Those who want to develop their careers in different directions
• Volunteers

Grow our Own offers
• Constructive working with you to determine your recruitment needs and future opportunities within your workforce

• A channel for businesses to help fill vacancies and develop your existing workforce

• An additional source for recruitment

• Continued support to employers and employees

• A pool of ‘work-ready’ people who are keen to play their part in making your business a success

• Services to help employees recruited under the Grow our Own scheme, and your existing employees looking to develop their skills; including advice and guidance, learning or training and support and mentoring at all levels.

By Growing our Own and working together we can help develop sustainable communities
