Summer Street Festival
SPECTACULAR SUMMER STREET FESTIVAL FOR WINDSOR
12 – 13 July 2008
Peascod Street, The Windsor Royal Station and Bachelors Acre will be buzzing with music, street theatre, a fabulous children’s carnival, delicious food and drink and some very temping retail therapy as Golden Egg Festival brings Windsor Town Centre to life for a wonderful weekend of fun.
Windsor Town Centre will be transformed with marquees and gazebos down Peascod Street and at the Windsor Royal Station where local traders, craft workers and artistes will display their wares in this wonderfully presented street market. Carefully choreographed so there is something for everyone, arts and crafts jostle with eclectic clothing ,jewellery and handbags.. . Jaguar cars to Mr Music, this is a real shopping bonanza!
Fun is the theme, and the town centre will come alive to the sounds of live music, balloons, clowns, stilt walkers – this will be street theatre at its very best. Feeling peckish, there will be plenty of street stalls selling delicious food.
The Children’s Carnival will be at Bachelors Acre, where the festivities will include a bouncy castle, Football Shoot Out, Giant Jenga, Art and Craft activities and lots of fun races scheduled throughout the weekend.
The Golden Egg Festival is the brainchild of event organisers Meera Desai and Kristin Gustavsen. Meera comments ‘we wanted to give retailers the opportunity to put an extra zing into the town centre, and enable them to promote their products and services at street markets and events all over town. We have had a fantastic uptake, this event has really captured people’s imagination, it is going to be a fabulous weekend’.
The Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead will open the Golden Egg Festival at 10am on Saturday 12th July, and announce the start of the Golden Egg Hunt. Pupils of St Georges School, Windsor have made and decorated 12 golden eggs, which are hidden around the town. Golden Egg Hunt forms can be collected from the Golden Egg Marquee in Peascod Street. The child who spots all 12 gets a very special prize!
