Council uses mobile gadget to ease voter communication |

A local government is set to implement text message technology in the bid to boost the turnout in the May elections.
South Oxfordshire District Council is to use the innovative technique via a new appliance called Text Message Server (TMS). Voters will be able to access results conveniently on their handsets. It is hoped the procedure will aid overall communication between the customer and service provider. South Oxfordshire District Council ICT manager Simon Turner said that the new service will offer ease of use and make the voting procedure more straightforward. "TMS was quick to install, easy to deploy and works seamlessly with our email system," he said. Using TMS, messages may be sent from any email client and customer relationship management software. Those using the system will be able to decide whether they want results from every ward or a selection only, reports the Oxford Mail.
