Reading MP Gets to Grips with Shelf Stacking |
|||
A Reading supermarket welcomed a new, albeit temporary, employee recently, when MP Rob Wilson decided to ditch his policymaking for a day.
The Reading East MP donned a Tesco uniform and stepped out onto the shop floor, putting in a full day's work at the Napier Road store. Mr Wilson told the Reading Evening Post that the day had been all about doing the sort of job that his constituents are doing. "I want to try and understand a bit about their lives because being in Westminster can cut you off from reality and I am determined not to let that happen," he explained. The open-minded MP also said that he was interested in learning about people's everyday lives and jobs and added that he was "very grateful to everyone at Tesco". He is also planning to spend time working as a dustman, postman, dinner 'lady' and police community support officer over the coming months.
