Redwood Continues Battle Against Train Noise |
|
John Redwood joined with other colleagues to press the Minister, Tom Harris, to relieve people living near train tracks from the very noisy new horns that have been introduced on the network.
The Minister promised to press the railway industry to reduce the power of the horns and/or to direct the sound up and down the track, away from residences near the lines. He also agreed to take out more Whistle boards altogether where there was no safety case to keep them. He promised to set a deadline of Decemvber 31st this year for this work and to report back to John and colleagues as soon as possible after that. John said " I know many of my constituents lives have been made a misery living near to whistle boards. I will continue to press Ministers and the railway industry to sort it out, as it is not fair on many people who need some peace and quiet, especially at night."
