Religious Hatred Bill
Rt Hon John Redwood yesterday asked the Home Office Minister Paul Goggins why the government wanted to curtail civil liberties and freedom of speech through its proposed Racial and Religious Hatred Bill. Later in the debate he told the House that many Wokingham constituents have sent him emails and letters saying that they are worried the Bill will prevent them affirming their faith as Christians or members of other religious organisations.     more

Emmbrook School
John Redwood today welcomed Wokingham Council’s decision to keep Emmbrook School, and to spend money on improving the building and facilities there. As local Member of Parliament, he has been a long standing supporter of keeping the School, and advised the Council to look elsewhere for its College development.     more

John Redwood Challenges DTI over Regional Development Agencies
Yesterday in the House of Commons, John Redwood challenged the Department of Trade and Industry to strengthen the code of conduct for Regional Development Agencies in order to stop unnecessary expenditure and their frequent misrepresentation of constituents' views. John has been particularly critical of the South East England Development Agency's approach to transport, where it has dithered and failed to resolve the problem.     more

John Redwood Questions Prime Minister on academic selection
On Wednesday the 18th January, John Redwood questioned the Prime Minister on his plans for the Education Bill. John pointed out that the Government's plans do include selection by ability or aptitude. The Prime Minister failed to acknowledge that aptitude and selection are the same thing.     more
