Help Save Farepak Families this Christmas |
||||
The Reading Chronicle newspaper is launching an appeal to help save Reading families who suffered enormous financial losses in the recent Farepak fiasco.
People are being asked to ring the newspaper’s hotline number, which will immediately raise £1.08, all of which will go directly to families in Reading who lost money during the recent collapse of Farepak. Many families affected by what MPs have called a national tragedy are now facing a Christmas of despair and uncertainty. It is estimated that, in Reading alone, nearly 200 people have lost £97,000. The Chronicle is calling on individuals and businesses to help change the fortune of these families by ringing their hotline number. The Chief Executive of Reading’s Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), Ms Fackrell, said: “We want to raise money to distribute to these people before Christmas. I am sure there is enough goodwill…to help make this happen. “One of our main concerns is that people will try to borrow money to replace what they lost and will start the New Year in debt.” Help change the fortunes of hundreds of suffering families this Christmas by dialling the hotline number on 09041 600 100. Calls cost £1.50 of which 100% of the profits made by the Reading Chronicle will go directly towards families in Reading who have been hit with disaster this Christmas. Alternatively, you can write a cheque made payable to ‘Berkshire Regional Newspapers’ to: Farepak Appeal, 50-56 Portman Road, Reading, RG30 1BA.
