On a national level, the FSB has established very strong connections in and around government since it's conception in 1974. They are the voice of small business, ensuring our interests are kept in the eye of government.

On a local level, members want to get to know each other and feel confident that the FSB are there to deal with local issues such as well as represent them at a local level. Through networking dinners and educational seminars, we ensure regular contact with our members and other businesses in East Berkshire.

Small businesses face unprecedented problems during this economic downturn in accessing affordable finance, winning healthy contracts and from aggressive late payment policies from big businesses. Figures from the OECD state 40 per cent to 50 per cent of small businesses fold within the first three to four years. The FSB pins this to the lack of cash flow which has a devastating impact on the job market.
