The effects of natural disasters can be devastating to businesses, and not only for those directly affected by them.
Businesses need to ensure that they regularly back up their files in order to ensure easy retrieval in the event of disaster says the Association of British Insurers (ABI).
Flooding or fire will test your company’s your contingency plan to breaking point, with the impact of such an event creating a make or brake situation for many companies.
The ABI.suggests that files be stored in a separate location or separate server at a different site ensuring firms can get up and running rapidly.
With all major events having a knock-on effect, this means that the disaster of one company will cause the disruption of another and this could directly affect your business.
According to the ABI, the summer's floods last year resulted in insurance claims from an estimated 27,000 businesses. Recent research by AXA insurance found that seven in ten small businesses had to close their doors after being struck by an emergency.
