Investment Clubs
Investment Clubs
If you’re feeling as if you’re whistling in the dark when it comes to investing your money in the stock market, then why not join an investment club? These clubs are aimed at helping people choose the best place to invest either as an individual or in a group.
What are they?
An investment club is basically a group of people who get together to invest money on the stock market. A more detailed explanation can be found at: http://www.investorwords.com/2608/investment_club.html.
Where are they found?
Investment Clubs have been in existence in the UK since 1951. They include all types of people, many of them new to the game of investing. There are listings of clubs available in local libraries, but in this day and age most information can be found online. The Pro Share website lists 12,000 such clubs all around the UK.
Choosing the right one
You can invest in virtually anything on the stock market. From property, (both English and overseas) to big-name businesses, an investment club will help you find your way. Some clubs have monthly investments from as little as £25 per month and some offer discounted software. Just be sure to take your time and carefully consider which club best suits your situation
Pros and Cons
As with everything there are pros and cons to joining an investment club:
Pros
Get to grips with the world of investing
Develop your strategy
Meet people
Joint investments may get a better return
Cons
Fraud (although clubs have to be regulated)
Trusting other members
You may be limiting your investment options
