Chris Clegg
Founder of Equity Entrepreneur©, he has made several (modest!) business investments. He recently bought, developed and profitably sold a General Insurance brokerage. For the last eight years, as well as various Directorships, he has specialized in raising risk finance for businesses with Beer & Partners and was responsible for the ‘Thames Valley’ region.

Non Executive Chairman BeCrypt ltd (Encryption software sector) 2005, and Consultancy and research for Venture Capital firms e,g Francisco Partners and Penta.

From 1985 to 2004, Barney was with Sherwood International plc, a UK Listed Company supplying technology solutions to the global Insurance Industry and UK Government. He was a Main Board Director for 13 years and left after the takeover by SunGard Inc in Feb 2004.

He was also a Non Executive Director of Raft International plc (AIM) 2004 till Jan 2006 when it was sold to Financial Objects Plc.


Chris Scanlon
Chartered Accountant from Price Waterhouse. He has 20 years experience in blue chip businesses – Financial Controller of subsidiaries of P&O, Dixons, Cellnet and Finance Director of Thames Trains through the privatisation process. During four years he prepared Thames Trains for sale, led a successful Management Buy Out and exited very successfully.

His second investment was in a small internet conference company which floated in 2000. This made him a multi millionaire, temporarily! Since then he has made various investments and uses his consultancy services to hunt down further opportunities.

Chris is a founder member of The Thames Valley Business Advisors


Leo Dunne
An experienced FSA - registered Venture Capital Executive, lending banker and manager, with expertise in identifying, assessing, negotiating, making and managing investments and loans, particularly at the smaller end of the market.

Leo is an active fund manager for private investment companies with a focus on the UK sub £2m market. His responsibilities include dealflow management, proposal assessment and reporting; high-quality dealflow sourcing; pre-investment due diligence and post-investment company strategy development at board and senior management level; investment structuring, negotiation and transaction completion. (ie pretty much everything!)


William Owen
William is a self-confessed angel investor addict. He has invested in more than ten companies in the last few years and has exited from several. William was previously chief executive of a seed capital company listed on the Madrid Stock Exchange. Prior to becoming hooked on private equity he was involved in real estate development in the UK and overseas including becoming chief executive of a quoted property company.


Robert Jenkins
Robert has a degree in Chemistry from Birmingham University and an MBA from Manchester Business School. He joined PriceWaterhouse Coopers in 1977 where he spent five years as a management consultant in both London and Toronto. He joined the Prudential as an associate director of its venture capital group in 1981. In 1985 he was a founder partner of Phildrew Ventures. In 2005 he joined Bridgepoint Capital on a part time basis as a director in their portfolio management group. Robert is a fund raiser for Africa Now – a charity focused on encouraging sustainable small scale economic development in Africa, he also manages a small scale development project in Senegal. He has recently personally invested in three early stage companies, and is currently a non executive director for six companies.

Cancellations
In the unfortunate event that a participant must cancel his or her place, please give as much notice as possible in order that a replacement can be found.

Refunds
There is a no refund policy. Participants who give notice of cancellation and whose place can be resold will have their place carried forward to a future workshop.
