MacDonald Berystede Hotel, Ascot commended for reducing CO2 emissions.

The maintenance team at the Macdonald Berystede Hotel & Spa, near Ascot have been awarded an ENERG-Y carbon saving certificate by Combined Heat & Power for playing their part in reducing C02 emissions in the battle against global warming.

Maintenance manager Steve Brocks and his assistant Glen Balbi embarked on a major energy saving project throughout the hotel last year. As part of the drive they changed all bedroom and public area light bulbs to energy saving alternatives and fronted an energy awareness drive throughout the hotel, encouraging staff to switch off all unnecessary appliances including air cooling and heating.

The award states that the Berystede saved 16 tonnes of CO2 in 2007, equivalent to a forest of 2403 mature trees!!
