How’s YOUR Carbon Footprint?
Helping your organisation find ways to reduce and manage it’s carbon footprint has become a burning issue over the past year or so. The Institute of Directors claimed in December 2006: "There's hardly a boardroom in the land that hasn't at least discussed cutting its carbon footprint in the last 12 months".

Most businesses would agree it pays to be seen as being environmentally responsible. But how many firms actually work hard at achieving this and how many simply give lip service to the notion? It’s something we will be exploring over the next month through the pages of Business in Berkshire.

Earlier this year, experts were predicting the hottest summer on record for the UK. Months later, we’re not only lamenting the loss of our promised hot summer, we’re also busy clearing up after the worst floods to hit the UK since records began. Whether the latest spate of extreme weather is a result of climate change is open to debate, although scientists do agree on one thing: the threat of climate change is very real and should not be ignored.

Thanks to the media, climate change and global warming are always in the public's mind: everyday we read news headlines on the subject. There's also strong evidence that environmental issues are becoming more and more key to purchasing decisions made by businesses and consumers.

As a result, businesses are realising they need to demonstrate what they’re doing to help the environment. Over the next few weeks, Business in Berkshire would like to hear from any business that is making a concerted effort to reduce its carbon footprint. If we can, we will publish your story on our pages.
