Enterprise Week 2006
Enterprise Week is a national celebration to inspire young people to turn their own ideas into reality, and this year it will be on 13-19 November. It includes business start-ups, social enterprise and people getting new ideas off the ground in existing organisations.

Last year, Enterprise Week involved over 2,000 events - that’s three quarters the size of Red Nose Day - attended by more than 400,000 people. There were over 1,200 pieces of media coverage (for more details see www.enterpriseweek.org).

Below are FIVE THINGS to help you make your 2006 Enterprise Week a great success.

1) REGISTER FOR THE MAKE YOUR MARK CHALLENGE
The biggest single activity in Enterprise Week last year was the one-day Make Your Mark Challenge. Over 11,000 young people in 1,500 teams took part at the same time all over Britain - we think that this was the biggest ever live enterprise competition.

All you will need to take part in the 2006 Challenge is one or more teams of six people each, a space for them to work in and one day of their time. You can run it in your own building, because the challenge instructions are unveiled online (at 9am on the Monday of Enterprise Week).

If you would like to register an interest from your school, college or workplace to field teams, please email info@enterpriseinsight.co.uk or call Claire on 0845 094 0226.

2) NOMINATE SOMEONE FOR THE ENTERPRISING YOUNG BRITS AWARDS
The Enterprising Young Brits awards, supported by Lloyds TSB and the Daily Mail, is a national competition to recognise young people who have turned their ideas into reality. The best entries in five categories will win £1,000 at the final during Enterprise Week and get extensive coverage in the national media.

See www.starttalkingideas.org/youngbrits for more details or contact Victoria on 020 7631 2666 or email victoria@colmangettypr.co.uk for copies of the application form. You can nominate yourself or someone else.

3) REGISTER YOUR INTEREST IN HOLDING A SPEED NETWORKING EVENT
Successful entrepreneurs know all the right people. To empower young people to make their ideas happen, we must help them to get connected – fast!

Be part of something big – a national Speed Networking extravaganza with hundreds of simultaneous events across the UK. It will last for just one hour starting at noon on Friday 17 November. And it’s very simple – every five minutes the whistle blows and you talk about enterprise to someone different. In 60 minutes you get 12 new contacts.

If you are interested in running one of these Speed Networking events, please email jo@enterpriseinisght.co.uk or talk to Jo on 020 7497 4037.

4) ORDER YOUR FREE ACTION PACK
The 2006 Enterprise Week Action Pack will be available in the summer. You can order your copy now by emailing your postal address to info@enterpriseinsight.co.uk or by calling Lauren on 020 7497 4042.

5) DISTRIBUTE ENTERPRISE WEEK LEAFLETS
Enterprise Week is only possible because of the hundreds of organisations and thousands of people who run events. It’s your week and to make it successful we need your help to promote it in advance.

We now have free promotional leaflets. Are you sending out a mailing which could include them? Could you give them out at a conference or display them in your organisation? Email info@enterpriseinsight.co.uk or call Lauren on 020 7497 4042 and let us know how many you need.

Thank you for your participation - it is essential for reaching the schools, colleges, businesses, enterprise organisations and others who together will turn the week into a national occasion and inspire young people to turn their own ideas into reality.

With best wishes
