Calling all Enterprising Young People in Berkshire
|
Enterprise Week is an annual UK-wide week of activities and events, aimed at inspiring young people (14-30) to have ideas and make them happen.
Enterprise Week (12-18 November 2007) is a national celebration of enterprise in all its forms, with thousands of events and activities all across the UK inspiring young people in their teens and twenties to be enterprising – to make their ideas happen. Last year, there were 3,184 events involving over 8,000 organisations. An overarching theme for the week is to bring the key trends that are shaping the future of enterprise to life. From globalisation to the environment, from the dot.com era to social networks, each new generation influences the direction of enterprise according to its own aspirations. To address these issues, there will be focuses on various different topics during Enterprise Week. Make Your Mark Challenge – Monday 12 November 2007 Last year, over 20,000 young people battled it out at the same time all over the UK to be crowned Britain’s most enterprising young people. The Make Your Mark Challenge is designed to bring out the very best creative, problem solving and team working skills in young people. To get involved this year, visit www.makeyourmarkchallenge.org Women’s Enterprise Day – Wednesday 14 November 2007 On the Wednesday of Enterprise Week, we’ll be showcasing and celebrating the achievements of all the women and girls that have turned their ideas into a reality, so we can inspire others to do the same. Last year, we launched Girls! Make Your Mark, and this year we want to get an even greater amount of women’s organisations to run events during the week, so we can make a huge impact. Social Enterprise Day – Thursday 15 November 2007 Social enterprises are simply businesses with aims which are primarily social or environmental and whose surpluses are ploughed back into the business or community rather than for shareholders, such as Jamie Oliver's restaurant Fifteen. This year, why not focus your Enterprise Week activity on encouraging the next generation of social entrepreneurs? Make Your Mark at Work – throughout the week Make Your Mark at Work is a celebration of all the fantastic ideas generated by employees, and about encouraging them to be even more creative and innovative. Those that nurture and encourage their employees to come up with ideas and make them happen are great places to work, attract and retain employees, deliver superior performance and continually evolve.
