Fly Fishing Season at Donnington Grove
If you’re a keen fly fisherman, you could be enjoying an excellent day of fly fishing on the picturesque River Lambourn which runs through the Donnington Grove estate. The season has started, so why not book a day’s fishing now? It’s the ideal territory for stalking wild trout in wonderful surroundings.
One of the great attractions of the Donnington Grove Country Club is the beautiful River Lambourn that runs through the estate. It’s a classic example of a perfect trout chalkstream - not too wide, bright gravel bottom and gin-clear water.
Our fishing is managed for us by Fishing Breaks Limited, a company with long experience of chalk stream fly fishing in Southern England. We have put in a lot of work over the winter months on our section of the River Lambourn to enhance the fishing experience for our visitors.
Fishing is available on the River Lambourn for a length of approximately half a mile and we also have a lake of about 5 acres which is stocked with rainbow trout. The river itself has a natural brown trout population which is supplemented with careful stocking of locally reared fish. Anglers are welcome to move between the river and the lake (note, fishing is restricted to fly fishing only on both the lake and river).
Donnington Grove have a resident Fishing Guide and Instructor, John Stephens, who is available for hire by the day. John is a patient and qualified instructor, who will provide tackle and is able to teach all ages and abilities.
