Nicola Taplin of DLP Planning has secured planning permission, after an appeal to the Secretary of State, for the retention of 6 rooflights in 3 new houses built by Taylor Woodrow in Poole, Dorset. The council placed a condition on the consent notice requiring the rooflights to be obscure glazed to prevent perceived overlooking of a neighbours garden, even though the windows were installed at a high level and only by standing on a chair could occupiers of the houses look out!! The inspector agreed with Nicola’s argument, that it was unlikely that people would actually look out at the neighbours garden in this way, and granted consent for the rooflights without obscure glazing.
