DLP Planning Ltd has been instructed by Hart District Council to make a recommendation to Committee on its behalf regarding an application for a 133,414 square metre warehouse and distribution centre at Pyestock, near Farnborough. The site is located in a Strategic Gap, and was formally used for the development and testing of jet engines (including those for Concorde).
The site is allocated in the adopted Local Plan as an employment site, however, there had been over 4000 objections to the scheme, with residents primarily concerned about the increase in HGV movements and their associated problems (such as noise and air pollution, as well as congested roads).
The site is also in close proximity to the Thames Basin Heaths SPA, several SSSI's, as well as sites of local importance for nature conservation. It will therefore be necessary to ensure all likely impacts are mitigated before approval could be recommended. However if this is not possible, the application will be recommended for refusal. It is likely that the report will be presented to committee in October.
