Apple Battery has ‘Performance Issues’
Apple have issued a software update to address a problem many MacBook and MacBook Pro users have suffered: bulging batteries. Since the range of laptops were launched last year, many users have been plagued with battery problems. Now Apple have admitted some batteries may indeed be suffering from ‘performance issues’.

Replacement batteries are being offered by Apple, along with a software update which should fix the problems associated with the defective batteries. Although there is no safety risk involved, some laptop users have been alarmed to find their battery packs swelling up (or in Applespeak: ‘visibly deformed’).

Apple advice customers to install the software update on any MacBook or MacBook Pro computer (and extra batteries) purchased between February 2006 and April 2007. If problems persist, customers should contact their Apple retailer who will arrange free of charge (no pun intended) replacement batteries.

Performance-challenged battery issues aside, the range of MacBook laptops have proved very successful since their launch in 2006, helping Apple sales climb to almost £3 billion in the first quarter of 2007.
