Kinnarps ‘Welcoming Workplace’ and the start of the festive season
We are delighted to invite you to our Pre-Christmas Smorgasbord Lunch… a traditional Swedish affair… at our new Reading showroom. The day will include an exciting showcase from the Royal College of Art presenting some exciting research. Please join us for any part of the day, as fits your diary. Thursday 27th November 2009 // Coffee and registration at 10.00am // Welcome and Introduction at 10:30am // Main ‘Welcoming Workplace’ presentation at 10:45am // Questions at 11:30am // Tour of the exhibition // Smorgasbord lunch from 12:30pm Welcoming Workplace A presentation and exhibition for all those included in office management. The Royal College of Art has undertaken a research project, supported by Kinnarps. ‘The Welcoming Workplace’ explores the challenges faced by the aging population and the consequent challenges of the office in the future. Anyone managing an office, whether of 20 people or 2,000 people, will be affected by the inevitable consequence of demographic change and will find this presentation both stimulating and thought provoking. To retain the most experienced and valuable staff in the future will demand an understanding of the needs and aspirations of an older workforce; come along and hear the results of the research first hand and see some ideas that could make the difference for your organisation. Presented by: Jeremy Myerson Director, Helen Hamlyn Centre Professor of Design Studies, Royal College of Art. A graduate of Hull University and the Royal College of Art, he began his working life on The Stage newspaper in the mid-1970s and developed his interest in design as a journalist and editor working on a number of titles including Design (published by the Design Council), Creative Review and World Architecture. From 1986-89, he was Founding Editor of Design Week, the world’s first weekly news magazine for designers and their clients. Jeremy has written a trilogy of books on office design with technologist Philip Ross, the latest of which, Space To Work, was published in October 2006. He is an engaging and much sought after speaker. Please RSVP to reserve your place at this exciting event.
