How to get the best from a working relationship with Jon Davey, Business in Berkshire and LiaiseOnline

Having known Jon Davey for a number of years through various networking events, I always thought I understood what he does. This is so often a misconception when we meet people. Either they don’t explain themselves well or we switch off because we think we know what they do.

I am not saying that it was Jon who did not explain his business well to me or my lack of understanding at a technical business, but that is almost irrelevant at this moment in time. I always knew he had something but was not sure what, so I persisted with several appointments.

My business was going through a transition in the back half of 2007, and I believed Jon and his business had the ability to help me, so I made yet another appointment to go and see him, opened my heart to him to what I wanted to achieve and thankfully, he said he could help me.

So what did he do? He told me something I could understand – that businesses are registering web sites in how people look for them. Lets assume you run an Accountancy Practice in Berkshire and the name of your business is Smith and Partners, the chances of someone “googling” Smith and Partners Accountants is very slim. The chances of them “googling” Accountants in Berkshire is very high.

Jon was able to tell me how people would search for various aspects of our business and together we registered a number of “micro sites”, which are smaller sites concentrating on one aspect of our business, so rather than me trying to get my main website to the top of the search engines, all I had to do was to focus on developing and working on the micro site.

Jon told me I needed to submit regular articles so he could load them on his site and also on mine. With the volume of emails and contacts Jon has, I could see how this could work.

Well, what do you think the results are?

Well, we launched the micro sites in January, and I really started to monitor the response at the beginning of March, and of the 200 leads we have generated since March 1st, over 70% have been as a result of working with Jon Davey and using his skill and techniques at generating leads. He is good, bloody good!

Anyone who can help generate a lead almost every day is pure gold and a real ally for your business.

I would seriously recommend anyone who is interested in working their way through this credit crunch/recession the government are frightening us with. Work your way through it and come out the other side, fitter, stronger and with a far more profitable business than you started with.

So my tips for success are:

1. Talk to Jon Davey and get him to build a microsite for you
2. Let Jon work with you and advise you how people will search for your business
3. Make sure you feed him with regular articles
4. Make sure – most importantly – that you have a positive attitude
5. Make sure you follow up on all enquiries that come through.
6. Monitor where your leads come through

Just remember if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got. If you want to change some things in your life, then you need to change some things in your life.

The first thing to change is to sit down with Jon Davey. You will not regret it.
