Celebrity fest at Christmas switch on
Celebrities were the highlight of the Christmas lights switch-on in Reading at the weekend.
Steve Fawke, the boss of Broad Street Mall, where the event happened, commented that Coronation Street stars made the event a true success, the Reading Evening Post reports.
"This year the decorations were the best ever and the celebs were fantastic. We definitely had more than 2,000 people packed into the mall, which is a record," he told the publication.
Antony Cotton, who plays Sean Tully in the Manchester-based soap and Samia Smith, who plays Maria Sutherland, were there to help kickstart Christmas in the area.
Furthermore, Father Christmas and Jack Frost also made an appearance to truly get the festive feeling going.
This was followed by a party atmosphere later in the evening with a fireworks bonanza as well as music, dancing and a laser show.
Berkshire has welcomed a host of celebrities this year to help ignite the festive fever, namely Shayne Ward in Slough and Toyah Wilcox in Bracknell.
