Midsummer Magic |
Midsummer has historically always been the central point of the magical year. The Summer Solstice is the time when the Sun halts over the Tropic of Cancer, turns in its tracks and begins its journey south towards the equator. This, the longest day and the shortest night of the year, happens in 2011 on June 21st. Midsummer’s Eve is a time associated with enchantment, fairies and dancing. Bonfires and fire disks were lit all over the country in praise of the sun and also to strengthen it, as from Midsummer onwards to the Winter Solstice in December the radiant Sun got weaker and weaker. On a personal level it is a time to reflect upon and strengthen any projects that were started earlier in the year and that may come to fruition around the time of the harvest. We may not be lighting any bonfires, but as our magical powers are heightened we’ll be looking towards the Cosmos for inspiration, wisdom and guidance.
