BUY Christmas gifts locally this year please

Business in Berkshire took part in Wokingham Carnival this weekend. We put together a top flyer and connected with 3 of our clients who had gifts that have that Christmas vibe.

Lorraine from Allergy Cooks has some great calendars for foodies looking for some healthy eating options. Annick McKenzie, a local artist based in Maidenhead has published 13 different colourful thank you cards for your post Christmas thank you notes. And Sally Amoore provided one of her wonderful bronze resins “No Closer” Mother Gorilla & Child.

During the week we ordered some fancy dress outfits for the occasion, as the carnival was billed with a pantomime theme. We prepared the flyer below a few days before the event as a hand out ... and the night before, once the stock was finalised the kids and I worked out our pricing.

On the day itself it was such a shame, the rain came down and the temperature was a little over freezing! I set up the stall and was ready for action at 11am, as the market opened. We had a great pitch but everyone needed to keep moving to keep their body temperature up. There was very little browsing and so when the children turned up with Ali to sell their Christmas stock they were on the stall for around 15 minutes before they decided to return to the warmth of the family home!

I stuck it out until around 3:30pm when I decided that is just wasn’t going to happen and packed up and returned home. Great experience and we will give it another go next year as the sun will be shining!!
