Council Requests Views on Possible Development Sites
Wokingham District Council is asking the public for opinions on over 200 sites which have been suggested for future development.
A set of documents is currently being drawn up that will guide future development in the district until 2026. The Local Development Framework (LDF) will replace the current Local Plan and will involve extensive public consultation to ensure that everyone with an interest in the future of the district has a chance to give their opinion. Lead councillor Frank Browne said that the council has worked hard to limit the amount of development in the district, fighting against government proposals to increase the number of new houses. "At the same time, however, we have to work to ensure that whatever development we do take is of as high a quality as possible, and in the most suitable locations," Councillor Browne added. "This is why it is vital that local people have their say, helping us to try and meet the aspirations of our residents within the framework set by government." Internet users can complete an online survey by visiting www.wokingham.gov.uk/ldf-siteoptions.
