The theme this year is ‘Pantomime in Wokingham’ and offers something for all the family. more | 24/09/08 The Farm Café helps create a stir for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning Each year Macmillan cancer support runs a nationwide event called the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. It is estimated that over 2 million people across the UK raised a cup of coffee (or something similar!) in aid of this great event last year. The hope for 2008 is to raise around £8 million and The Farm Café in Wokingham aims to contribute to this challenge. more | 13/09/08 SURVEY LAUNCHED TO MAKE SURE MORE THAN 10,000 BUSINESSES AREN’T RUBBISH! Companies across central Berkshire are this month being urged to talk a load of rubbish as part of a survey to investigate business waste and recycling practices. more | 28/05/08 The Wokingham Arts forum is trialling an exciting new Arts & Crafts market on the 1st Sunday of June, July and August. The result of a brain storming session of the group to help showcase the exceptional talents of local artists and craftspeople it will bring the artisans to the public arena in Market Place, Wokingham. more | 04/05/08 Waitrose profits help charities A new in-store scheme from Waitrose has been set up to help local charities. The new scheme “Community Matters” is being piloted in four of Waitrose’s branches. These are in Newbury, Wokingham, Henley, and Witney, near Oxford. more | 29/04/08 On Wednesday the 23rd April the two winners and two runners up of the Wokingham Schools’ Parliamentary Debating Competition 2007 were treated to a day out in Westminster as part of their prize. Adam Connell and Dominic Lister, the two winners from Emmbrook School, were joined by Amber Anderson and Rebecca Knowlson of Luckley-Oakfield. After a cup of tea in Portcullis House, John Redwood gave a tour of the palace to the four students and their two teachers, Pam Pierce and Marie Pearce, guiding them through its history, from the medieval Westminster Hall to the impressively gilded nineteenth-century Lords chamber. more |
