Following on from last year’s success, the Royal Windsor Wheel will be returning to Alexandra Gardens again this summer, offering visitors magnificent panoramic views of Windsor and the surrounding area.
The wheel, Windsor’s own version of the ever-popular London Eye, will open on 30th June for a period of 3 months so Windsor’s residents and visitors alike will have the chance to fly high again this season.
The wheel is staying open a month longer than last year, with opening hours from 10am to 10pm, 7 days a week. The huge 55-metre (180ft) diameter wheel holds 40 observation pods each carrying 6 people. Fabulous views of the castle, the River Thames and the Thames Valley are guaranteed and on clear days the Wembley Arch and West London can be seen.
The ride runs for 20 minutes at a time and will again be situated in Alexandra Gardens next to a ‘Royal Windsor Wheel café’ serving light refreshments. Last year the Windsor wheel attracted over 90,000 visitors helping to boost Windsor’s reputation as a tourist attraction and making a special occasion for the whole family.
“This year’s run will attract even more people into the town during the summer months” says Windsor and Eton Town manager, Paul Roach, “which in turn will increase trade among local businesses.”
Royal Borough Advantage Card holders will pay £6 for their tickets (£4.50 for under-16s) and can also purchase 2 full-price tickets for the price of one every Monday (certain conditions may apply).
