Windsor Easter Treasure Hunt

FIVE FAMILY LEGOLAND TICKETS TO BE WON !!

Pick up a copy of the official sheet from the Tourist Information Centre or print this sheet

Come out of the tourist office through the doors which are opposite the shops Michal Negrin and EAT. Turn left and walk up the hill to the main road (Thames Street), where you can see the castle walls. Turn left and walk downhill to the entrance of Curfew Yard. Don’t miss it! If you get to McDonalds, you’ve gone too far! In Curfew Yard is a gift shop called Raffles. Did you know this is one of the oldest houses in Windsor? Look in the window.

1. How many miniature chicks in baskets can you see in their display?

Return to Thames Street and turn right, walking up the hill to the statue of Queen Victoria. Look around you and you should be able to see a building with pillars, which is the Guildhall. Go there and stand in front of the Crooked House tea rooms. Look up at the first floor of the Guildhall. There is a statue of Queen Anne in an alcove above the pillars.

2. What is she holding in her left hand?

Cross the road at the nearby pelican crossing and go into Peascod Street which is named after the pea fields which the street used to lead to. There are two lovely decorative pieces of metal artwork at the entrance to Peascod Street showing two people playing with a ball.

3. What are the letters on the ball?

Walk down Peascod Street until you reach Thorntons on your left (just before the Post Office).

4. How many chocolate bunnies can you see in the window?

Walk past the Post Office and down Peascod Street for around 50 yards until you reach Hunts, the butchers. They are celebrating a special Chinese festival by including a certain animal in the window display.

5. Do you know what the festival is and what the animal is?

Return to the Post Office and go up a slope or steps into King Edward Court shopping concourse. At the top, Waitrose should be facing you.

6. Waitrose has a Royal Warrant to supply who with groceries? For a bonus point, find some Dutchy Originals biscuits – to whom are the profits donated?

Facing Waitrose, turn to your right and walk to Johnson’s Shoes, then round the corner to the left, up the slope and turn right, to Photo Optix. Go up the nearby steps into Windsor Royal Station and walk towards the old locomotive.

7. What is it called and what was its purpose?

Facing the train ticket desk, look at the train timetable.

8. What is the earliest time you can catch a train in the day to Slough from here?

Turn right and go to the shop called Windsor Great Perk.

9. Name a sweet which is another way to cook your eggs.

Come out of the shop and turn left. Walk along till you get to La Tasca Spanish restaurant.

10. How much does a Sangria cost?
