Windsor Entrepreneurs Launch Fundraising Retail Site
A Windsor father and son have set up a new website where shoppers with a conscience can purchase goods and help to save lives at the same time.
Graham Robertson and his son Ben had decided to create an online retail business and realised the potential to do charitable work at the same time.
"We were going to set up a shopping website," Mr Robertson told the BBC, "but when I did research and found out how many people shop online it was staggering. We could raise a fortune here for charities."
The pair receive an agreed percentage of sales in return for forwarding customers to featured retailers' websites via their own site, onlineaid.co.uk.
They then send this commission to the Christian aid organisation World Vision, which helps to combat world poverty.
Mr Robertson commented that it was a shame that it took one-off events such as Live Aid and Live8 to encourage people to donate money and said that the new site would provide an ongoing fundraising opportunity.
"It has cost the public nothing," he added. "Even if we only manage 20,000 people, that is still £163,200. That's a lot of lives saved!"
