Dr Dulcamara’s Pots & Potions
As part of our ‘Business in…’ series, we will be bringing you information about businesses in and around the Berkshire area. This week we’re focusing on Windsor. Let’s find out more about Dr Dulcamara’s Pots & Potions…
Based in Eton Wick, Pots & Potions offer a range of handcrafted traditional bath and body care products. What’s more, they have re-introduced the elegant porcelain pots and colourful perfume bottles sold by Victorian and Regency pharmacists – a far cry from the unexciting machine-made throwaway plastic packaging of modern toiletries.
The products are designed and developed locally and, in the tradition of the English still-room, produced using traditional methods. Handcrafted and packed in Eton Wick within sight of Windsor castle, Dr Dulcamara’s pots & potions have a strong following both here in the UK and abroad.
Old fashioned classic fragrances such as Rose, Violet, Lavender, Lily of the Valley, and Sandalwood are used in the preparations. The range includes bath salts and essences, shaving creams, and hand creams in tubes or ceramic pots. The porcelain pots can be personalised with a unique gold leaf design if required, making an unusual and charming gift.
Originally a character from an opera by Donizetti, Dr. Dulcamara was famous for his love potions and sure enough, the modern-day Dr Dulcamara also produces an ‘Elixir of Love’ range of bath products. (Fragranced with essential oil of Ylang Ylang - a flower reputed to have aphrodisiac properties).
The timeless design of the packaging enables customers to recreate the charm and elegance of the Victorian bathroom or dressing table in their own home. Too good to throw away once empty, the porcelain pots and colourful bottles usually remain on bathroom shelves and bedroom dressing tables long after the contents have been used.
