Olympic and Paralympic bid for business

All companies in Berkshire and the rest of the South East interested in potential contracts from The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) and the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) now have a straightforward way to find out what business opportunities are available. The service is being formally launched at Reading FC's Madejski Stadium on February 20.

The website “CompeteFor” is being used to advertise Games related contract opportunities and will operate as a brokerage service between buyers throughout the London 2012 supply chain, and potential suppliers.

Businesses of any size will be able to enter their details on CompeteFor and complete a business profile. This will then be matched against the standard business profile that has been agreed with the ODA and LOCOG as the minimum requirements to take advantage of 2012 opportunities.

Buyers will select a shortlist of applicants, who will then officially tender for a contract. Details of the winning bidder(s) will then be published on CompeteFor, with the contractor supplying feedback to the unsuccessful parties.

Business opportunities include work in construction, manufacturing, engineering, catering, merchandising, retail, business and financial services, tourism, media and creative industries.

London 2012 expects to distribute more than £6 billion of work, as part of approximately 75,000 business opportunities in the lead up to the 2012 games.
