Local girl could be next Strictly Come Dancing star

A local girl has scooped up the top awards at a national dancing competition, proving she has the talent to go all the way.

Hanna Creswell Melstrom of Whitley, Reading, picked up gold in the ballroom and Latin American dance categories with her partner, Luke Miller, at the British Juvenile Dance Championships, the Reading Evening Post reports.

Held last weekend in Blackpool, the young starlet has now secured her place in the British juvenile dancing squad which will see her compete internationally next year.

Mary Richardson, who owns the County School of Dancing remarked that Hanna is "a dream" to teach.

She told the publication that Hanna is dancing in the footsteps of stars: "She started with us doing Saturday morning classes, which is just how Strictly Come Dancing star Ian Waite got started."

"He has seen her dance and he thinks she is lovely," she added.

Ian Waite, born in Reading, was recently booted off Strictly Come Dancing with partner Penny Lancaster.
