Renaissance Reading Hotel helps Marriott celebrate 80 years of Spirit to Serve
Marriott Hotels and Resorts will celebrate its 80th birthday on May the 20th 2007. The company has grown from J. Willard and Alice Marriott’s first business, a nine-stool A&W Root Beer stand, which they later call "The Hot Shoppe" which opened in Washington DC on the 20th of May 1927, to a global company with more than 2800 hotels in 68 countries and territories employing more that 200,000 people.
To celebrate this milestone, Cavershams Restaurant at the Renaissance Reading Hotel, is for one week only from the 20th of May, serving a selection of dishes from the original “Hot Shoppe” menu. A three course menu plus coffee and a Hot Shoppe drink will be £19.27. You will be able to choose dishes such as Maryland Crab Cakes, the Mighty Mo Burger, Barbeque Shredded Pork, Chili Con Carne, Hot Fudge Cake, Key Lime Pie, Root Beer Floater or an Orange Freeze.
Assem Sweidan, General Manager said, “This is just one of the ways we are celebrating Marriott’s 80th Birthday. Iain Dickson, our Executive Chef has spent an incredible amount of time sourcing the ingredients to ensure all the dishes are as authentic as they were 80 years ago.”
